Answer

1. What is the Member Card?

A fully-branded, reloadable prepaid Visa® card issued digitally by Frontcover. It lives in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and lets communities give members instant funds, rewards, and tap and pay (contactless) payments.

2. How is it different from the existing membership cards?

A standard digital membership card is primarily used for verifying membership and identity, with a QR code or barcode.

The Member Card is a new secure tap-and-pay digital membership and payment card, with cashback and cash-top-up automation.

Member benefits can seamlessly and automatically flow back to members through card usage.

3. Where can I use it?

Clubs and communities may choose to limit where the card can be used to keep spend “in-ecosystem.”

Cashback offers and/or cash top-ups may also be limited to specific merchants. eg. Club brand partners, or certain venues.

For Example: The Celtic Club (our launch partner) currently restricts the initial cash top-up and the cashback earned on purchases to their venues.

More generally, the Member Card can be used anywhere Visa contactless payments are accepted.

4. Who can get one?

Member Cards are only available to members of clubs or communities with an approved and active membership through Frontcover.

Note: Only those clubs or communities that have enabled the Member Card feature can issue these cards.

5. Is there a step-by-step guide on adding my Member Card to Apple or Google Wallet?

Yes. A step-by-step guide is available here.

6. How do funds get added to the card to make payments?

Communities can preload funds (e.g., at member sign-up), and members also get the option to set automated top-ups.

7. Can I make an instant cash top-up to the Member Card to ensure I have a sufficient balance to make a future payment?

Yes, the 'Instant Cash Top Up' function is available in the Wallet function in Frontcover at frontcover.io/user/wallet

Log in and look for the relevant drop-down menu for the function.

8. How does cashback work?

Pay with your Member Card at eligible merchants and an agreed-upon percentage cashback (e.g., 10%) is automatically credited back to the same card, usually within seconds.

9. How do I know when cashback has been credited to my Member Card

Frontcover sent an SMS notification with the cashback amount and the current balance on the card.

Members can also access their balance and card transactions at any time by logging in to Frontcover and visiting frontcover.io/user/wallet.

10. Why do I need to link a card?

Linking a debit or credit card ensures your Member Card always has enough balance to cover a tap‑and‑pay purchase:

When your prepaid balance falls below a configurable threshold, an auto top‑up is triggered.

The cash top‑up is pulled instantly from the linked card (via the Frontcover platform) and credited to your Member Card instantly.

No surprises: you choose or are shown the top‑up increment (e.g. $30) during onboarding and can change it any time.

Card details are stored tokenised and PCI‑DSS compliant via our issuing processor, Frontcover, and the community never sees the full debit or credit data.

11. Is there a physical card?

The Member Card is digital-only for speed, lower cost, and immediate issuance.

Communities may provide an alternative solution to cashback and/ or provide physical membership cards. An additional fee may be required to fulfil this.

12. Which devices are supported?

Apple Pay-compatible iPhones/Apple Watch and any Android handset with Google Wallet (NFC) running Android 7+.

13. Are there fees?

There’s no fee for members to receive or spend their Member Card.

Standard card scheme fees are absorbed by merchants.

14. How do I check my balance and transactions?

A link is included in SMS notifications and members can log in to frontcover.io/user/wallet to view the following:

  • Balance

  • Earned Cashback

  • Transactions

  • Linked Cards

You’ll see your available balance, pending top-ups, payments and cashback history.

15. What if I change phones or lose access?

Simply re-add the card from your secure issuance link, received via email and/or SMS. You can also visit frontcover.io/user or contact your community manager for details.

16. Is Apple and Google Wallet secure for tap-and-pay payments

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet are as secure, often more so, than a physical card, provided you keep your device secure and software up to date.

Note: Apple and Google may require a pass code and/ or Face Id to be activated, to allow members to add their Member Card.

17. Can brand partners offer cashback or top-up cash to Member Cards?

Yes. Brands can do cash top-ups and/or provide cashback offers. If you'd like to offer cashback to Member Card holders, contact Alan at [email protected].
